Modern access control tripod turnstiles with a lifespan of 5 million cycles from a top tripod turnstile manufacture

Access control tripod turnstile JDGD-22 offers a convenient and secure method of securing restricted areas. Near the card reading window, 2 LED indicators show the status of the passage (Green: Access is authorized; Red: Access is denied). Applying a mechanical drive unit that makes it possible for the arm to be pushed through with ease can help move a lot of people. The tripod-type turnstile JDGD-22 is ideal for usage in a range of settings, including office buildings, health clubs, exhibition & convention centers, entrances, and lobbies, among others, thanks to its sleek and contemporary design. By setting one or both directions to free passage mode, a tripod turnstile access control system can be used for crowd management or user counting applications. For user counting applications, each rotation sends an output to an incremental counter located in the turnstile cabinet.

There are two types of tripod turnstile barrier JDGD-22 available: fully automatic type and semi-automatic type. The mechanism of the fully automatic tripod turnstile uses a secondary transmission mechanical structure, and the gear transmission ratio is accurate, efficient, and stable, allowing it to precisely control the arm's rotation angle and minimize loss. In contrast, the mechanism of the semi-automatic tripod turnstile uses a strong buffer design structure, which effectively reduces noise and mechanical vibration, makes it run more smoothly and efficiently, and minimizes losses. Any access control system, including a card reader, a biometric device, or an external control panel, can operate the outdoor tripod turnstile JDGD-22. In addition, it can also be used for one-way traffic, even though two-way traffic usually moves in one direction at a time.

Our tripod turnstile pricing varies according to the housing material, length, and finish. For more information, contact us at luke@jaydagate.com. We offer the best turnstile solutions for various project kinds.

The Dimensions

The Dimension of Access Control Tripod Turnstile

Tripod turnstile JDGD-20 is an advanced crowd access management device designed to regulate foot traffic efficiently across both indoor and outdoor environments. From corporate offices  to stadiums, airports, museums, construction sites, and public facilities, the system ensure controlled entry, improved safety, and seamless user flow.

It is cost-effective, robust and reliable. Utilising a mechanical drive unit that enables the arm to be pushed through effortlessly, it can facilitate a high volume of human traffic flow. Self-centering, anti-action mechanisms and spring dampers are also incorporated to allow complete and smooth operation of the rotation.

The Half-height Tripod turnstile JDGD-22 offers greater cost savings as compared to the flap and drop arm turnstile systems. It can withstand harsh environment and ruggedness uses. The rotating tripod mechanism allows only one person to pass at a time, eliminating the tailgating problem.

Access Control Tripod Turnstile

Waist high tripod turnstile JDGD-22 functions as a secure pedestrian gate and pedestrian barrier, ensuring controlled pedestrian flow while preventing tailgating and unauthorized access. This tripod turnstile system is ideal for facilities that require durable construction, smooth operation, and seamless integration with modern access control systems.

FAQs

What is an access control tripod turnstile?

An access control tripod turnstile is a waist-height access gate with three rotating arms. It controls pedestrian flow in secure or restricted areas. Each person passes one by one, which helps prevent tailgating. Unlike swing optic turnstile, tripod turnstile offers more physical control. It is often installed at entrances that need clear traffic direction.  Tripod turnstile uses stainless steel, usually grade 304. This material resists rust and ensures long-term durability. Some models also support waterproofing for outdoor use. Because of its compact design, it fits well in tight indoor spaces. It works with access control systems like RFID, face recognition, or QR code readers. When a valid credential is detected, the arm unlocks for a single rotation. After passage, the arm automatically locks again. This mechanism improves security while keeping entry smooth and organized.

The types of access control tripod turnstiles

The three different types of brushless motor-equipped access control tripod turnstiles can be classified according to how they operate.
Fully automatic access control tripod turnstile: These motors are used to start and halt the movement. After receiving a proper open signal, the fully automatic tripod turnstile gate’s arms will revolve in that direction for a certain angle, and they will continue rotating automatically to open as soon as the user pushes them just a little. When the device is turned off, the arm will automatically lower, and when it is turned on, it will do the opposite.
Semi-automatic access control tripod turnstile: equipped with electromagnets that can be used to stop movement and control operations. After receiving a valid open signal, the electromagnet causes the unlocking arm to unlock. Next, the release lever spins in a single direction, and the users lightly push the arm to gain entry. When the electricity is turned off, the arm will automatically lower; when the power is turned on, the arm will be raised manually. After swiping their cards, users must pull the lever to gain admission.
Mechanic access control tripod turnstile: It is entirely mechanical and has no electrical components. Without waiting for the access control system to send an open signal, the users gently push the brake lever to move through the passage. One way of free flow can be controlled by the automatic positioning and reset system, while the other direction is locked.

The Benefits of using an access control tripod turnstile

A tripod turnstile offers several advantages that make it ideal for secure and efficient crowd control. Some advantages are:
Controlled Access: Tripod turnstiles allow one person to pass at a time after valid authorisation. It prevents tailgating and unauthorised entries, and ensures accurate crowd management in high-traffic areas.
High Durability: Constructed with high-grade stainless steel, tripod turnstiles are corrosion-resistant, which makes them suitable for both indoor and outdoor environments.
Cost-Effective: Solution Compared to flap barriers, tripod turnstiles offer reliable control at low cost and minimal maintenance requirements.
Emergency Safety Features: In case of power failures and emergency situations, the arms of the tripod turnstiles get locked immediately and do not allow passengers to pass through to ensure safety.
Integration Flexibility Tripod turnstiles can easily integrate with modern access control systems such as RFID Cards, Biometric scanners, or facial recognition devices to enhance security.

How does an access control tripod turnstile work?

An electromechanical system controls pedestrian access through three rotating arms. When powered, the central controller links with devices like card readers or QR scanners. After successful verification, the motor unlocks one arm for entry. The user then pushes the arm to pass through. Only one rotation is allowed per valid access. This helps prevent tailgating or unauthorized entry. After use, the arm resets and locks automatically. Without valid input, the system keeps the arms locked. Some models include emergency modes for safety. During power cuts or fire alarms, the arms drop or unlock. This allows safe evacuation in critical situations. Many systems also log entry records and support attendance software integration.Because arms rotate in one direction, the device ensures orderly, secure, and efficient flow. Its strong build and smart control suit crowded public spaces and commercial sites.

How efficient are tripod turnstile in access control system?

Tripod turnstile access control systems are highly efficient for managing and regulating pedestrian traffic. They allow entry one person at a time, ensuring that access is both controlled and secure. These systems can integrate seamlessly with technologies like RFID cards, biometric scanners, and keypads, making them adaptable to various security needs. Their sturdy design, coupled with low maintenance requirements, makes tripod turnstile access control systems ideal for high-traffic environments such as office buildings, stadiums, and transportation hubs, providing reliable, long-term access management.
