Tripod gate turnstiles, also known as waist high turnstiles, are simple, compact and cost-effective turnstile solution for security entrance, allowing only one person to enter at a time, helping to maintain a steady flow of people through an entrance. Because of their waist height cabinets, they are easy to crawl under or jump over and enter without being detected or stopped (as no sensors equipped with them), therefore they are usually used in locations under supervision. They are designed with collapsible bars also provide an unhindered escape route in case of emergency.
2. Optical turnstile gates provide medium security level
Optical turnstile gates create free passages after they receive an ‘Open’ signal from access control systems and close the passage immediately after the user pass through. They come with infrared sensors to detect tailgating, and sound an alarm if the unauthorized person follow after an authorized user. However, their waist high cabinet can not prevent someone from jumping over them; on the other hand, when the barriers open for only a few seconds, a second person can rush through. Therefore, optical turnstiles are typically installed in main entrance lobbies, allowing employees to pass through them, but the presence of the cabinets and barriers indicates that visitors need to “check in” with the reception/security staff to get access.
3. Full-height turnstile gates provide high security level
Full height turnstile gates come with floor-to-ceiling arm design, providing high level of security for where the entrance is not manned, as it is impossible for someone to crawl under or jump over them, They prevent tailgating by rotating just enough for one person pass through at one time, therefore, nobody gain entry without valid credential.
